PhotoDemon would not be possible without the help of countless awesome contributors. We’d love to add your name to the list.
We don’t discriminate when it comes to help. Whether you’re a developer, designer, translator, or someone who noticed a bug or has a good idea, we’d love to hear from you.
In no particular order, here are some of the most popular ways to help.
PhotoDemon is a huge project, and while we try really hard to keep it error-free, bugs sometimes slip through the cracks.
If you don’t have a GitHub account, please report bugs using this contact page. We appreciate it if you use an actual email address so we can follow-up when the bug is fixed, but if you don’t want to provide one, that’s okay too – just make sure your bug report is detailed, so we can fix the problem right away.
Many of PhotoDemon’s coolest features were created by outside developers.
PhotoDemon is written in VB6, but even if you’re not familiar with the language, we’d love to have your source code. (PD’s developers have worked in everything from C++ to Perl, so we don’t mind translating tools from other languages.) Please get in touch if you can contribute your coding expertise to the project.
As of version 6.0, PhotoDemon includes a dedicated Language Editor that makes translations fast and painless. In fact, new translators can often complete a full translation of the program within a few hours – just think how great that would look on your CV or résumé!
PhotoDemon itself includes everything you need to create a new translation, but for best results, please contact us so we can share a few tips to make the process easier.
PhotoDemon is primarily developed and maintained by a single individual (with a family to support). It is provided free-of-charge under an extremely permissive open-source license, and no fees will ever be charged for its use.
So donations obviously go a long way toward supporting the development of this powerful image editing tool. If you would like to donate and support PhotoDemon’s development, please visit our donation page.
(While we can’t make any promises, we have been known to give extra attention to feature requests from individuals who donate.)
If you like PhotoDemon, why not tell your friends, family, or coworkers about it? Even better, if you happen to frequent a site that has anything to do with photography or digital imaging, considering sending them an email and asking if they’ve tried it. More exposure means more users and contributors, which means bigger (and faster) updates.
Like any volunteers, we get warm and fuzzy when people tell us how our hard work made a difference for them. At any time, feel free to get in touch. Even if it’s a single word – “Thanks!” – we’d love to hear it.
